What we help RV and camper owners with

Instant Locksmith TN provides mobile RV and camper locksmith service across Middle Tennessee for travel trailers, fifth wheels, pop-ups, truck campers and motorhomes. Most calls fall into a few groups:

RV and camper lockouts

Keys left inside, a lost key ring at the campground, or an entry lock that will not turn. We open the entry door without damaging the frame whenever the hardware allows.

Compartment and baggage locks

Storage bay locks get stiff, break, or lose their keys. We repair, replace or rekey them, and can key several compartments alike.

Entry door lock replacement

Worn RV entry locks with a paddle latch and deadbolt can be replaced with matching hardware or upgraded, depending on the door cutout. RV entry locks are ordered to fit your door, not stocked.

Keyless entry upgrades

Many owners switch to an RV-specific keypad entry lock. We confirm the door prep and lock dimensions before recommending one, then order it; RV keypad locks are not stocked.

Rekeying after purchase

A used camper comes with keys you cannot account for. Rekeying or replacing the cylinders fixes that.

Motorhome chassis keys

We make and program ignition and door keys for motorhome chassis too. Tell us the chassis year, make and model when ordering.

Why rekeying compartment locks is worth it

Many RV compartment locks leave the factory keyed to a small number of common key codes, which means a lot of keys out there may fit them. If you keep tools, generators or hookup gear in the bays, rekeying or replacing those cylinders with uncommon keying is an inexpensive improvement.

We can also key the entry door and compartments so one key works across your rig where the hardware supports it, which beats carrying a ring of identical-looking keys.

Campgrounds, storage lots and access

Middle Tennessee has a lot of RV parking: lake campgrounds around Percy Priest Lake, state park campgrounds such as Cedars of Lebanon near Lebanon, and fenced storage lots across the suburbs. We can come to all of them, but we have to be able to reach the rig.

If your RV sits in a gated storage lot or a campground with a check-in office, confirm gate hours and let the office know a locksmith is coming. Some facilities require you to be present or to add us to an access list. Remote campsites may also add travel time, so give us the site number and the clearest directions you can.

Authorization and what to have ready

Before we open an RV, we verify you are authorized: the owner, a renter with a rental agreement, or someone acting for the owner. Registration or rental paperwork helps, though it may be locked inside, which we understand.

Our access to investigative verification resources gives us an unusual additional capability when identity or ownership needs to be confirmed. Read how it works on our verification page.

How a call works

  1. Tell us the rig and the problem. Trailer or motorhome, year and make if known, which lock, and where it is parked.
  2. Confirm price. You see the price before dispatch, including any after-hours or holiday multiplier.
  3. We arrive and confirm. We check authorization, look at the hardware, and confirm the plan before starting.
  4. Open, repair or replace. If replacement parts are needed and the hardware differs from what was described, we explain and get approval first.

What does RV locksmith service cost?

Standard price: quoted before dispatch. Replacement entry locks, keypad upgrades and multi-compartment rekeys add parts and labor, which we confirm before work begins. RV entry and keypad locks are ordered, not stocked, and billed at standard rates.

  • Standard rate: orders placed 7 AM–8 PM
  • After hours (orders placed 8 PM–7 AM): 1.5×
  • Federal holidays (calendar date and observed date): 2×
  • Federal holiday, after hours: 3×
  • No weekend surcharge
  • Mileage: $1.25/mile beyond 5 miles from the city center

Multipliers apply to everything on the job (service, labor, parts and hardware) except the flat $15 (inside city limits) or $25 (outside city limits) service call and mileage. The after-hours rate is set by the time the order is placed. Holidays are U.S. federal holidays, billed on both the calendar date and the observed weekday.

RV and camper locksmith FAQ

Can you come to a campground or state park campsite?

Yes, within our Middle Tennessee service area. Give us the campground name and site number, and check whether the office requires you to register visitors.

My RV is in a gated storage lot. What do I need to do?

Confirm the lot's gate hours and access rules, and be there or arrange access for us. We cannot work on a rig we cannot reach.

Can you rekey all my RV compartment locks to one key?

Often, yes, when the cylinders allow it. If they do not, replacing them with a matched set is the alternative. We confirm before quoting.

Can you make an ignition key for my motorhome?

Yes. Motorhome chassis keys are cut and programmed much like a car or truck key. Tell us the chassis year, make and model when ordering so we bring the right key.

Will a house keypad lock fit my camper door?

Usually not. RV doors are thinner and use RV-specific cutouts, so we recommend RV-specific keypad entry locks sized to your door. We order them for your job; they are not stocked.

I bought a used camper. Should I change the locks?

Yes. You cannot know how many keys exist for it. Rekeying or replacing the entry and compartment cylinders gives you control again.
