What ILT Lifesaver is

ILT Lifesaver is a program of Instant Locksmith TN that provides emergency entry, at no charge, when a child, a pet or an at-risk adult is trapped in a vehicle or residence and their life is in immediate danger. Instant Locksmith TN does not profit from ILT Lifesaver calls. Learn more on the ILT Lifesaver page.

Who is covered

• Children locked inside a vehicle or residence
• Pets locked inside a vehicle or residence
• At-risk adults — for example, an elderly person who has fallen and cannot reach the door

Ordinary lockouts where no one is at risk, and situations where emergency responders have already gained entry, do not qualify; we can still help under our standard Service Terms and pricing.

Who can report

Anyone may report a possible ILT Lifesaver situation — the vehicle owner, a parent or guardian, a neighbor, a passerby or any bystander. You don't have to be the owner to call. Reports are taken 24/7/365.

When forced entry is authorized

A report starts our response; it does not, by itself, authorize forced entry. Before any forced entry, the technician on scene must visually or audibly confirm that the child's, pet's or at-risk adult's life is in immediate danger — for example, by seeing a child in distress in a hot vehicle or hearing a fallen person call for help.

A bystander's report alone does not authorize forced entry. If the technician cannot confirm immediate danger, we will not force entry; we will coordinate with 911 responders and, where possible, the owner, and any entry then follows our normal verification process.

Verification may follow entry

Normally, we verify authorization before opening anything. In an ILT Lifesaver response, when the technician establishes a reasonable threat to life, limb or eyesight, verification of ownership or authorization may follow entry instead of preceding it. Information about the incident may be shared with police, fire, medical or animal-welfare responders.

No charge when the situation qualifies

Qualifying ILT Lifesaver entry is free. No deposit, service call, mileage or other charge applies. If the situation does not qualify (for example, no one is inside), we will tell you before doing any work, and any standard service you then request is billed at normal rates under our Service Terms.

Safety first

• Call 911 if anyone may be in immediate danger, and follow the dispatcher's instructions.
• Do not break windows, climb or take reckless action that could injure you or anyone inside, unless directed by emergency responders.
• Our technicians defer to police, fire and medical personnel on scene.
• Our technicians will not enter a hazardous environment, such as a fire or gas leak.

We follow the law

Instant Locksmith TN will never violate Tennessee law to perform an ILT Lifesaver entry — or for a landlord, property manager or anyone else. Entry is made only where permitted by law and, when practical, in coordination with emergency responders.

Company discretion

Whether a situation qualifies, and whether and how we respond, is decided by Instant Locksmith TN based on the information available at the time and the technician's on-scene confirmation. We may decline or stop a response if the scene is unsafe, if emergency responders direct us otherwise, or if we cannot reach the location in a reasonable time.

No guarantee of response time or outcome

Although Instant Locksmith TN operates 24/7/365, we cannot guarantee that a technician will be available or will arrive within any particular time, or any particular outcome. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Instant Locksmith TN is not liable for delays or outcomes caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including traffic, weather, technician availability, distance, inaccurate information or the actions of others. Our Terms of Service otherwise apply.

Other programs

Other organizations, including some locksmith companies, offer similar free services for children or pets trapped in vehicles. ILT Lifesaver covers residences as well as vehicles, includes at-risk adults, and accepts reports from anyone.

Changes

Instant Locksmith TN may modify or end the ILT Lifesaver program at any time. Changes will be posted on this page.
