Commercial Lockout Service for Offices, Stores and Restaurants
Locked out of your business? Instant Locksmith TN sends a mobile locksmith to open offices, storefronts, restaurants and back-of-house doors across Middle Tennessee, after we confirm the person requesting entry is authorized to open the space.
- Authorization confirmed before entry
- ~1-hour deployment goal in core metro cities
- Price confirmed before work begins
Getting your business open again
A locked front door costs more than an inconvenience. Staff wait in the parking lot, deliveries get turned away, and customers see a dark storefront. Instant Locksmith TN provides mobile commercial lockout service throughout Middle Tennessee, including Nashville, Franklin, Murfreesboro and the surrounding cities.
We generally aim to deploy within about one hour in Nashville, Murfreesboro, Franklin, Brentwood, Smyrna, La Vergne, Hendersonville, Gallatin, Goodlettsville, Mount Juliet, Spring Hill, Nolensville, White House and Fairview when feasible. That is a goal, not a promise: arrival depends on current demand, technician availability, traffic, weather, your location and how complex the door is. We will give you a realistic estimate when you order.
Who can authorize entry to a business?
Opening a business is different from opening a car or a house. A commercial space can hold cash, inventory, records and other people's property, so we only open it for someone with the authority to let us in.
In practice, the people who can usually authorize a commercial lockout are:
- The business owner or managing member (or a partner or company officer with that authority).
- Any employee, including a manager, once we have direct confirmation from the owner or managing member.
- The property manager or landlord for the building, for common areas or for a tenant space when the lease allows it.
If the person on site is an employee, from a new hire to a general manager, we need direct confirmation from the business's owner or managing member before we open anything. A quick call from them usually settles it. You do not always need a utility bill or a lease in hand, but we do verify authorization before we open any door.
Our access to investigative verification resources gives us an unusual additional capability when identity or ownership needs to be confirmed. You can read how that works on our verification and authorization page.
Commercial doors we open
Aluminum storefronts
Glass-and-aluminum entrances on retail strips and offices commonly use a narrow-stile deadlatch or deadbolt with a mortise cylinder. We work through the lock rather than the glass.
Hollow metal and wood doors
Back doors, office suites and stockrooms usually carry cylindrical or mortise lever locks. Storeroom-function locks stay locked from outside at all times, which is a common cause of lockouts.
Interior offices and rooms
Private offices, server closets, supply rooms and manager's offices locked with the key inside. Tell us which room and what kind of handle it has.
How a commercial lockout call works
- Order online or call. Use our online locksmith order form to choose the service, enter the address and describe the door. Online and phone orders pay the $15–$25 service call up front as the deposit.
- Tell us who is authorizing entry. Give the name of the owner or managing member and how we can reach them directly if they are not on site.
- Confirm the price. We confirm the price before work begins, including any after-hours or holiday rate.
- Verification on arrival. The technician confirms authorization before touching the lock.
- Entry. We use non-destructive methods whenever the lock allows. If a high-security cylinder or damaged hardware means drilling or replacement, we explain why first. A lockout that ends in drilling costs the service call plus the $200 drilling price only, with no lockout fee on top, approved before we drill.
- Next steps. If keys were lost or taken, we can rekey or replace the lock the same visit, priced and approved before we start.
What makes some business lockouts harder
Most commercial lockouts are straightforward, but a few details change the time and the method:
- High-security cylinders. Locks built to resist picking and drilling are designed to slow everyone down, including us. Opening one may take longer or require a different approach.
- Electrified hardware. Electric strikes, maglocks and keypad systems may need the system's administrator or installer. Tell us if your door has a card reader or keypad.
- Exit devices. Panic bars on rear doors sometimes have a key-operated dogging or a cylinder on the outside trim that affects how we approach the door.
- Alarm systems. If your building is monitored, have the alarm code or contact your alarm company before we open the door so an alarm does not trigger a dispatch.
If you are not sure what kind of lock you have, a photo of the door and handle texted or emailed after you order helps us bring the right tools.
What does a commercial lockout cost?
Standard price: quoted before dispatch; multi-door jobs are quoted per door. When you order online you pay the $15–$25 service call at checkout as your deposit ($15 inside city limits, $25 outside), and the service price is confirmed before work begins.
- Standard rate: orders placed 7 AM–8 PM
- After hours (orders placed 8 PM–7 AM): 1.5×
- Federal holidays (calendar date and observed date): 2×
- Federal holiday, after hours: 3×
- No weekend surcharge
- Mileage: $1.25/mile beyond 5 miles from the city center
Multipliers apply to everything on the job (service, labor, parts and hardware) except the flat $15 (inside city limits) or $25 (outside city limits) service call and mileage. The after-hours rate is set by the time the order is placed. Holidays are U.S. federal holidays, billed on both the calendar date and the observed weekday.
The final price can change if the job turns out different from what was described, such as a high-security cylinder or a lock that has to be replaced. Any change is explained and approved before we continue. See how our pricing works.
Commercial Lockout FAQ
Can my landlord or property manager authorize a lockout of my suite?
Often, yes, if the lease gives them access to your space and they confirm the request. If the business owner and property manager disagree about access, we will not open the door until it is resolved between them.
Do you open businesses late at night or on holidays?
Yes. We are open 24/7/365, including late nights, weekends and holidays. Orders placed between 8 PM and 7 AM are billed at 1.5× standard pricing, federal holidays at 2×, and holiday orders placed after hours at 3×. There is no weekend surcharge.
Will you damage the door or lock to get in?
We use non-destructive entry whenever the lock allows it. If drilling or replacing a cylinder is the only practical option, we explain why first. If a lockout ends in drilling, you pay the service call plus the $200 drilling price only, with no lockout fee on top; a new cylinder is priced separately and approved first.
A former employee kept a key. Should I change the locks after a lockout?
If keys are missing or unaccounted for, rekeying the affected cylinders is usually the most economical fix. We can quote commercial rekeying during the same visit.
Can you open a locked office inside our building, not just the front door?
Yes. Interior offices, storage rooms and closets are common calls. The same authorization rules apply, so the person approving entry should have authority over that room.
What should I have ready when the locksmith arrives?
Have the owner or managing member on site or reachable by phone, your alarm code or alarm company contact if the building is monitored, and know which door you need opened.
