Built around keeping trucks working
A locked-out van or a lost key isn't just a hassle for a fleet — it's a crew standing around and a job running late. Towing to a dealer for keys can take a vehicle out of service for days.
Our model is mobile: the technician comes to your yard, your lot, or the job site, and the work happens there. For planned work like spare keys across several vehicles, we can schedule a visit when the trucks are back in the yard.
Fleet services
Spare keys for every unit
Many fleets run each truck on a single key. We cut and program spares so every vehicle has a backup in the office. See key duplication and chip programming.
Lost keys in the field
An employee loses the only key at a job site. We make a new one at the vehicle — from the key code or a lock decode — and program it. More on our lost car key service.
Lockouts
Keys left in a running van, or locked in the cab at a supply house. We open it without damage — same as our vehicle lockout service.
Employee turnover
When a driver leaves with a key, you can erase that key from the vehicle's immobilizer and re-key the mechanical locks so it no longer works.
Worn ignitions & door locks
High-mileage work trucks wear out ignitions and driver's door locks faster. We repair or replace them — see ignition repair.
Fobs & smart keys
Newer vans and pickups use remote-head keys or push-to-start fobs. We program replacements, including fobs you supply, for any vehicle that doesn't require dealer-issued tools — see key fob programming.
Key control: the part fleets skip
Most fleet key problems trace back to the same thing — nobody knows how many keys exist for each truck. A few habits help:
- Keep a simple log of each vehicle's VIN, unit number and how many keys exist.
- Store at least one spare per vehicle somewhere secure that a manager can reach after hours.
- Collect keys at offboarding, and erase any key that doesn't come back.
- Have key codes on file where your vehicle paperwork includes them — it can make replacement simpler.
For the buildings, offices and gates your crews use, our commercial locksmith services cover rekeying and master key systems.
How fleet work is ordered
- Send the vehicle details. Unit, year, make, model, location and what's needed. Single urgent calls can go through our online order form.
- Confirm who can authorize work. We verify the requester is authorized to have keys made or vehicles opened for your company. See our verification approach.
- Get the price. Confirmed before work starts, per vehicle.
- Work on site. At your yard, lot or job site.
- Test and hand over. Every key tested in the doors and ignition, and handed to the person you designate.

What affects fleet pricing
- Key type per vehicle — blade, transponder, remote-head or smart key
- Whether working keys exist to copy, or keys must be made from scratch
- How many vehicles are serviced in one visit
- Location — yard visit vs. a remote job site
- When the order is placed, using the after-hours and holiday multipliers below
Business invoices may be offered on net 15 terms at our discretion; otherwise payment is due on receipt. See our Payment & Deposit Policy.
Fleet Vehicle Locksmith FAQ
Can you make spare keys for several fleet vehicles in one visit?
Yes. Send us the year, make and model for each unit and we'll confirm what each needs. Grouping vehicles in one yard visit is usually more efficient than one-off calls.
An employee quit and kept a truck key. What should we do?
For a vehicle with a transponder or smart key, the missing key can usually be erased from the immobilizer so it won't start the truck. The mechanical door and ignition locks can be re-keyed so the blade won't open them either.
Who can authorize locksmith work on a company vehicle?
Someone your company designates, such as an owner, fleet manager or office manager. We verify authorization before opening a vehicle or making a key. Setting up your authorized contacts ahead of time makes urgent calls smoother.
Can you come to a job site rather than our yard?
Yes. Instant Locksmith TN is fully mobile, and we serve job sites across Middle Tennessee. Deployment time depends on location, traffic and demand.
Do you work on cargo vans and heavy-duty pickups?
Yes. We cut and program keys for work vans and pickups that don't require dealer-issued tools, and open them on lockouts. Tell us the year, make and model when ordering and we'll confirm before dispatch.
Can all our fleet vehicles use the same key?
Some fleet vehicles can be ordered or re-keyed so the door locks share a key, but immobilizer chips are still programmed per vehicle. Whether it's practical depends on your vehicles — ask us and we'll explain the options.
